It continues to be my honor to be the Executive Director of CASA of Lancaster County. This community’s support - your support, has allowed CASA to grow to advocate for 909 children through the dedication of 419 CASA volunteers over the past 12 years.
We began as an organization receiving in-kind office space within Central Penn College and our growth has necessitated two moves throughout our twelve years. As I write to you, we are contemplating our third and final office move. CASA has an incredible opportunity and we need your help.
It has always been part of our vision to purchase our own office space – to have the same permanency we endeavor for our CASA children and to forever be part of your community. That vision is being realized far sooner than I ever could have hoped for. We have a contract to buy the property at 120 N. Shippen Street in Lancaster City, and have found ourselves the beneficiary of incredibly generous owners. They believe in our mission and the value we bring to the community so much so that they are committed to working with us now and into the future by carrying the mortgage with very philanthropic terms.
We have committed to a $100,000 down payment. The Clark Family Foundation and an anonymous donor have each offered a $50,000 match. I am asking you to be part of CASA’s permanent legacy in Lancaster County by making a gift to our capital campaign – all donations up to $100,000 will be matched dollar for dollar.
All funds raised in excess of $100,000 will be held in a building endowment fund managed by the Board of Directors. Monies in this fund will be restricted to necessary building repairs and upkeep allowing us to keep the crucial funds raised for our programming reserved to expand and enhance our child advocacy.
Let me share with you some of the reasons I so excited about this opportunity for our organization. This space will enable CASA to engage with the community in new ways: holding our trainings in our own space, inviting community organizations to collaborate with us and inviting community members to see firsthand the impact of our work.
