Year you joined CASA: 2024

What is your educational background? Associate degree in science - Registered Nurse

What is your current job? Or what you did professionally if retired. Retired RN in 2020 after 40 years of employment

What prompted you to become a CASA? To make an impact on the lives of children, fulfill a desire for volunteer opportunities

What challenges have you faced as a CASA? Understanding the legal system; defining role limits and knowing available resources for the children/resource parents

Can you share a specific memory of a time when you felt successful in your role as a CASA? I have only been working on a case for 6 months, but feels like I have established good relationships with resource parents, caseworker, and child

What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a CASA? Don't be afraid to get involved as soon as you can! CASA staff is very supportive in helping you navigate.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher or social worker

What is the best part about living in Lancaster? Good balance of city/country living. Good amount of diversity. Good healthcare availability. Feel safe in most areas, people friendly.

What is your dream vacation destination? Australia/New Zealand

What are you reading, watching or listening to right now that’s worth sharing with others? Not much at the moment

Two people, current or historical, you most admire. A friend of mine who just passed away at age 48; Steph navigated an ugly illness for over 2 years with grace and dignity. She inspired me to live life to the fullest and not sweat the small stuff. I always admired my dad for the way he lived his life, loved his family and all he did to support me in my life journey.

What’s your go-to comfort food? Or alternatively, the best restaurant you’ve ever been to? I love pizza and ice cream

What's an activity you do outside of volunteering/work that you love? Scrapbooking, spending time with family
